French student unions vowed on Friday to maintain protests after what they called their first win, as the government pledged to send around 3,000 qualified teachers to address staffing shortages in schools. The education ministry reported 141 schools remain shut nationwide amid the third week of demonstrations, which have expanded to include blockades at elite Paris universities such as Assas and Mines Paris. Student and teacher unions have called for further nationwide strikes next Tuesday, while Education Minister Edouard Geffray noted more than 100 teaching staff injured during the unrest. Reuters
