Amazing

Every year that I have spent as Utica College has made me appreciate the college so much more. I have grown so much as an individual thanks to the amazing support system and opportunities that the school provides. One of my favorite parts about UC is the small classroom sizes. As a student, you're actually able to develop a relationship with your professors and receive that attention that you wouldn't normally get in a bigger college or university. I love that all of your professors will know you by your first name within the first couple of weeks at school. Everyone truly cares about your well-being and really does their best to make sure all of their students are comfortable, growing and succeeding while at school.

Great School!

I love this school! The people are very friendly/ welcoming and the staff is always there to help when you need it! The food is meh, but what can you expect they have to feed so many people every day. There are many opportunities to get involved. I am a member of multiple clubs and the track team. College is what you make it, so make the most of it!

Great pick for a school!

It is a small, tight knit community environment that offers a wide variety of clubs and orgs for students to join outside of class to meet more people. Pretty focused on healthcare, construction management, and criminal justice but offers many other programs outside of these.

UC makes me feel important and at home.

Some things that Utica College does really well is providing an atmosphere that makes students feel welcomed, important, and able to succeed. When I first came to UC I was very anxious over whether or not I would meet people and if I would fit in. As soon as I stepped on campus the Moose Movers greeted me with such genuine excitement, helped me move in, and gave me confidence for the rest of orientation. Because of the relatively smaller size, I was able to make close connections very quickly as I saw familiar faces in classes, the dining hall, and all over campus. There were so many different clubs to join so I focused on the dance team and the health studies student society, as they went along with my favorite sport and my major of physical therapy. In these I was able to make so many friends and make connections with professors and other opportunities. I became vice president of the dance team and we were able to participate in our first competition this year. This made me feel really important as I was responsible for helping with the dance and to run practices. In the other club, I was able to attend conferences, obtain a shadowing opportunity my freshman year, and to present my own research at a conference. All of this was possible because of the quick and strong connections that are so easy to make here. The professors have been incredible, especially since I am in such a difficult major. My first year, my chemistry professor worked hard to help me go from failing the first exam to ending with an A. He hosted many extra test review sessions, was very helpful and patient in his office hours, and paid close attention to each student’s needs. One time I was sick and had to miss class and he emailed me asking if I was okay and offered ways to help me make up the class. It’s impossible to be just another number in a massive lecture or random face in the crowd at Utica College. The size and community foster the ability to truly feel a part of the community.
