UCF- new students > maintainance and quality When you first arrive at the University of Central Florida, you can't help but be sucked in by the luxury. Beginning with the unbelievable 2 story gym, lap pool and outdoor pool, to the incredible fountain, 5 story library, and luxurious dorms, the bells and whistles are certainly above and beyond. But when you crawl through the parties and perks, what are we really doing at University? Getting an education, no? With all of the funds going to sucking in new students with new landscape projects, new gym facilities, etc, cuts are made to less popular programs, such as mine, Foriegn Language Eduacation. If you're studying engineering or medicine, I'm sure you'll be fine. But with over 50,000 students, the 5 story library is constantly packed, the two story gym is so over-crowded. So even the bells and whistles are getting rusty. With that many students, it's also extremely difficult to get into necessary courses. Overall, I give the amenities 5 stars. The food on campus 5 stars. The parties in the area 4 stars. The football games 3 stars (tailgate: 5 stars). But the actual education and professors was very inconsistent. I had a few amazing professors but most were forgettable and even downright terrible. So, it all depends on what you're looking for! :) I'm going to go ahead and say yes, I'd recommend UCF to a friend, but depending on what the friend was looking for in a University. Pros: beautiful campus, great study abroad options Cons: poor academic reputation, expensive, hard to register for classes I would recommend to a friend! |
