Your Career Depends On It

Attending college at an international university is a big step that leads to a life changing, long term commitment that will most positively impact your career choices and future opportunities. Choosing the right college that best meets your long term goals and specializes in your profession of choice will serve your career better, than simply enrolling in any institution that will accept you.

Many college bound students experience tremendous frustration and disappointment when applying to post-secondary institutions in their country of origin. Students are then faced with the decision to continue taking entrance exams to try to score higher with hopes of eventually gaining admission to higher education in their home country or look for alternative options to getting a college education.

Your Career Depends On It

Whether you are a student struggling to gain admission to a post-secondary institution or a student interested in traveling abroad to gain experience and enjoy the benefits of an international education, you will receive far better educational value and experience if you plan like your career depends on it.

Too many students, if not most students, lack the necessary planning, research, investigation and analysis needed to choose a college that gives them the best return on their investment. After all, a college degree is a lifelong investment, many times the financial burdens of student loan repayment extends many years into ones professional career. Considering, the open-door policy of many colleges, students should evaluate each college they apply to, just as they are being evaluated for their potential success at the post-secondary level.

Do You Want to Apply

Institutions of higher education, especially community colleges, frequently accept students who have completed the minimum requirements for admission, but may not necessarily be exemplary students. A high school diploma, home school diploma or dual enrollment status will earn a student admission most of the time. Colleges practicing the open-door policy do so from a marketing perspective. They have to fill student seats in classrooms to maintain enrollment numbers to be able to employ teachers. To successfully implement these types of programs, remedial reading, math and study skills classes are offered to students needing additional coursework before entering a program of study.

Is the College Right for You?

Detailed information, including first hand reviews about colleges and universities, both domestic and international, is available and should be reviewed in depth prior to pursuing colleges for admission. Post-secondary institutions should be evaluated to determine their reputation, quality of educational programs, admission policies, tuition rates, financial aid programs, work study programs, room and board accommodations and services/resources available to students to ensure student success.

Save Your Money

It may take several months to a year or more to complete the application materials required to be accepted to an international university. Select the colleges that you want to apply to, determine admission requirements, complete a credential evaluation and prepare applications materials for submission. Additionally, some institutions require a variety of entrance exams prior to reviewing student’s admission paperwork. Most colleges accept students at multiple times throughout the academic year, while some colleges only accept new admissions at a specific time.

Most colleges and universities require application fees prior to evaluating transcripts to determine admissions. Students are encouraged to apply to multiple universities and this can be quite costly with application fees starting around $25 and extending upwards of more than $60. Students, who select colleges that match their expectations will find it easier to get accepted, find the process to be less expensive and time intensive and most likely be more satisfied at the college they choose to attend.

In return, student satisfaction leads to greater academic success which opens the door for more job opportunities and educational advancement.
